Gloucester History Festival
Mark returns to the Gloucester History Festival for his second appearance as a guest author. A book signing will follow the event.
From Cooper’s Hill cheese rolling to St Anthony’s Well, May Hill’s Morris dancing to Sabrina, Goddess of the Severn, Gloucestershire is a land of myth, legend and tradition. Writer, traveller and former BBC broadcaster Mark Cummings leads a joyful journey through the county’s strangest stories, ancient traditions and hidden places. Former Cotswold Life editor Candia McKormack, BBC West reporter Steve Knibbs and historian and broadcaster Janina Ramirez join the fun. Put your knowledge to the test at the end of the event for a chance to win a round of Double Gloucester cheese! Chaired by BBC broadcaster Vernon Harwood.
Guests are also invited to enjoy a complimentary glass of Gloucestershire cider in the courtyard from 30 minutes before the event.

Mark will give an illustrated talk about his new book “More Adventures in Glorious Gloucestershire”.

Waterstones, Gloucester
Join Mark for an evening celebrating his new book, More Adventures in Glorious Gloucestershire.
The evening begins with a talk from Mark, followed by a Gloucestershire-themed quiz. The café will be open throughout the event, serving drinks, cakes and light refreshments.

Cheltenham Literature Festival
Go beyond the picture-postcard view of Gloucestershire with writer and broadcaster Mark Cummings as he uncovers the county’s hidden stories. From literary landmarks and fascinating folklore to ancient rivalries, secret viewpoints and overlooked corners, discover the places and histories that lie beyond the familiar rolling hills and charming villages.
Whether you’re a lifelong local or visiting for the first time, this entertaining journey through Gloucestershire reveals a rich landscape of unexpected tales and forgotten treasures. Chaired by Tim Hubbard.
There will be a book signing after this event. Tickets go on general sale Thursday 3rd September – £14.

Stroud Book Festival
Mark will be joined by bestselling author and Stroud resident Katie Fforde for an entertaining conversation about why we all love Gloucestershire.
With Stroud taking centre stage, Mark and Katie will explore the creative inspiration of living in the county. There will be fizz on arrival, followed by a joint book signing. Tickets go on sale 11th September.

Gloucestershire Themed Quiz hosted by the Historical Association
This fun themed quiz night will also feature stories and discoveries from Mark’s latest book. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy an entertaining evening while picking up some Christmas presents with a book signing at the end.

Gloucestershire Federation of the WI Christmas Concert
Mark will host the Gloucestershire Federation of the WI Christmas Concert at St. Matthew’s Church, Cheltenham. Members from across the county will gather for a festive celebration, followed by a book signing.

Join Mark for an evening of conversation, quizzes and Festive Fun in the upstairs cafe of Waterstones, Cheltenham. It’s a relaxed opportunity to meet Mark and find some Christmas Gift inspiration.
